About Walk NorthumbriaWalk Northumbria was founded by myself - Peter McEwen - in 2002
I have over 25 years experience of walking in Northumberland and Scotland, and I have also walked in America, Canada, Switzerland, France and Poland. I have been leading Guided Walks for the Northumberland National Park for over 18 years. I hold the following Certificates: Mountain Leadership Certificate issued by The Scottish National Sports Centre. I undertook my training and assessment at Glenmore Lodge, Aviemore. British Red Cross First Aid at Work Certificate - Health and Safety Executive Approved. Amateur Radio Licence - Full Class 1 Until recently I was an active call-out member of the Northumberland National Park Search and Rescue Team for which I was the recipient of The Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal. Enhanced CRB Certificate My hobbies include Mountain Biking/Cycle Touring, Photography and Amateur Radio. About my Guest GuidesJim GrantJim is a storyteller working in environmental education and interpretation, after many years as a primary school teacher in inner city schools and nature parks. Jim now provides living history and story experiences which deepen our awareness of the natural world and our dependence upon the natural environment. John SteeleAs a recently retired Northumberland National Park Senior Ranger and Wild Life Conservation Officer, John has 28 years experience as a guided walks leader. He is now a self employed Ecologist and Wild Life Artist. Paul FrodshamPaul managed the Northumberland National Park’s Archaeology Service from 1992 until 2006. He now runs ORACLE Heritage Services, a consultancy dedicated to archaeological research, conservation and interpretation throughout northern England. Richard HolmesRichard is an experienced walker and Voluntary Ranger, who until recently was Leader of the Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team. His academic and field teaching interests include Meteorology, Geomorphology and Geology. He currently trains Voluntary Rangers and Long Distance Path Volunteers in hill skills, navigation, first aid and incident management. |
